Technip Energies has secured a large EPC contract from India’s HPCL for the Mumbai Refinery Lubricants Modernisation and Heavy Distillate Upgradation project, valued between EUR 250 million and 500 million. The scope covers a 550,000 tonnes-per-year integrated hydrocracking and catalytic dewaxing unit plus an 850,000 tonnes-per-year solvent deasphalting unit, both to be built inside the existing refinery. The work is expected to turn low-value heavy residue into higher-value oils and will be booked in the contractor’s third-quarter 2026 backlog.
