The Shuqaiq 3 seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Saudi Arabia’s Jizan province has won the Social and Community Impact Award at the SHARAKAT Awards 2026, held in Riyadh on October 19. Developed by a consortium led by Almar Water Solutions with Marubeni, ACCIONA and Rawafid Alhadarah, the roughly US$600 million plant has been in commercial operation since January 2022 and produces 450,000 cubic metres of drinking water per day, enough to supply around two million people. Shuqaiq 3 was the only project nominated in three different award categories this year.
