Egypt’s Higher Committee for Public-Private Partnership Affairs has approved tendering two large seawater desalination plants, including a 900,000 cubic metre per day facility in Port Said and a two-phase one million cubic metre per day plant in Suez, as part of the country’s 2020-2050 desalination strategy. The committee also approved four industrial wastewater treatment plants serving industrial zones in Alexandria, Giza, Beheira and Port Said with a combined capacity of 90,000 cubic metres per day. Equipment suppliers and water technology contractors now have a clear pipeline of upcoming PPP tenders in the Egyptian water sector.
