Bahwan Veolia Water, the joint venture between Veolia and Bahwan Engineering, has taken a five-year operations and maintenance contract for the Al Asilah desalination plant in Oman’s South Al Sharqiyah governorate. The 80,000 cubic metre per day facility runs an on-site solar farm to lower its carbon intensity, and together with the Sur plant it will serve roughly 600,000 residents. Al Asilah is Veolia’s fourth major desalination plant in the country, where the group aims to double operated capacity by 2030.
