A demonstration project in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu is testing membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology to treat wastewater from hotels, resorts and similar facilities, combining microorganism-based breakdown of pollutants with fine membrane filtration. The project brings together South Korea’s HifilM, local firm Vic Metal Fabrication and Environmental Services, the Korea Environmental Professional Engineers Association and the DOST Central Visayas. Partners will mark completion on 14 October 2026 and discuss how the approach could be rolled out across Central Visayas.
